The photographs on this site have been taken with a Canon 7D Mark II or 5D Mark III body with either a Canon EF 300mm f 2.8, EF 600mm f 4 IS USM or an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens.
The locations of photographs on this site are varied. Most have been taken around Perth in Western Australia. Favoured sites include Herdsman Lake, Bibra Lake and from my back yard and an area within 500m of my house. It is wonderful to think that there is such diversity of bird life within a metropolitan region. Places visited outside Perth include the Eyre Bird observatory, Albany, Lord Howe Island and Christmas Island. The latter is a fantastic location and is as awe inspiring as the Galapagos islands.
Photographs from overseas come from the Isle of Mull and Fowlsheug, Stonehaven in Scotland and the far north of Vancouver Island.
The most important thing about bird photography is being there – then having your camera.
